<image:title>Album Covers Gallery - American Modern Ensemble: In Real Life</image:title>
<image:caption>In Real Life is a new album that combines three witty, contemporary pieces for solo singer and ensemble: In Real Life I (for soprano), In Real Life II (for baritone), and Extraordinary, an operatic scene for soprano and baritone. The beloved musicians on this album are Marnie Breckenridge, soprano, Jorell Williams, baritone, and American Modern Ensemble, one of America’s most admired new music ensembles. In Real Life was originally conceived by composer Robert Paterson and lyricist and librettist David Cote as a set of dating app songs for a soprano and piano called In Real Life (retitled In Real Life I), commissioned by Austin Chamber Ensemble Artistic Director Martha Mortensen Ahern, in honor of its 35th season. Getting into the heads (and hearts) of five different women looking for romance was so fun, Paterson and Cote wondered, what would a similar cycle for baritone sound like? The result was In Real Life II, songs that dramatize the romantic quests of five different men. As a full program, In Real Life consists of these two song cycles (interwoven for variety) and Extraordinary, an operatic “date” for the soprano and baritone. Mingling comedy with pathos through a lively range of character types, In Real Life is a chance for a soprano and a baritone to show off their versatility, and for an audience to enjoy a delicious, theatrical revue about love, romance, and second chances. In Real Life was produced by Grammy® winning producer and engineer Adam Abeshouse, and recorded live at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music’s Mary Flagler Cary Hall in NYC.</image:caption>

Each voice type represents a different season. The four critically-acclaimed singers on this album, soprano, Marnie Breckenridge, mezzo-soprano, Blythe Gaissert, tenor Alok Kumar, and bass-baritone David Neal have worked closely with Paterson, and gave the world premieres of these works with American Modern Ensemble, one of America’s most beloved new music ensembles.</image:caption>

Two Bridges includes a diverse collection of brand new works for two harps by an exciting and diverse group of composers, including Andy Akiho, Ferdinando DeSena, Christopher Dietz, Nico Muhly, Paul Patterson and Giovanni Piacentini. <image:title>Album Covers Gallery - Claremont Trio: Spheres - Music of Robert Paterson</image:title>
<image:caption>Spheres features one of America's greatest piano trios, the Claremont Trio, and contains three trios by Robert Paterson: Sun Trio, Moon Trioand Elegy for two cellos and piano. The Claremonts are also joined by their former piano Donna Kwong on Sun Trio, and Karen Ouzounian on cello for the Elegy. The entire album was recorded at the Academy of Arts and Letters in New York City and produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by legendary producer and engineer Adam Abeshouse. Robert Paterson and the Claremont Trio first became acquainted through Adam. Paterson asked, "which his the best trio you've worked with recently?" and without hesitation, Adam suggested the Claremont Trio. Paterson then contacted the trio, sent them a copy of his Sun Trio, and within the year, they recorded it. In fact, they had such a good time working together, and they enjoyed his trio so much, they suggested the idea of a brand new trio, which ended up being Moon Trio, the newest piece on this album. To round out the album, Paterson suggested his Elegy for two cellos and piano. All three of the works on this album are inspired by or have something to do with celestial bodies—the sun, moon and the cosmos.</image:caption>

<image:title>Album Covers Gallery - Winter Songs: Vocal Music of Robert Paterson</image:title>
<image:caption>Winter Songs is the first album dedicated entirely to the vocal music of award-winning composer Robert Paterson. All works on the album are performed by the New York City based American Modern Ensemble and produced by multi-Grammy winning producer Adam Abeshouse. Each work features combinations of voice, flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and percussion. The featured vocalists are some of the finest in North America, including Jesse Blumberg, Robert Gardner, Nancy Allen Lundy, David Neal and Dimitri Pittas. All of the works on the album are world premiere recordings. The works on this album are inspired by a variety of diverse subjects, and in many cases, use unconventional texts. CAPTCHA, the first work on the album for tenor and piano, uses reCAPTCHA texts for each movement. CAPTCHA stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart, and CAPTCHAs (or in this case, reCAPTCHAs) consist of combinations or real words and gibberish words. Selected reCAPTCHA texts were used for all of the movements.</image:caption>

<image:title>Album Covers Gallery - Duo Scorpio - Scorpion Tales</image:title>
<image:caption>Scorpion Tales is Duo Scorpio's debut release. It contains a unique selection of modern masterpieces and new works for harp duo, including Le Jardin Des Paons and Parvis by Bernard Andres, Raga by Carolyn Lizotte, and world premiere recordings of Crossfade by Sebastian Currier, Scorpion Tales by Robert Paterson (commissioned by Duo Scorpio and the American Harp Society) and Unfurl by Stephen Andrew Taylor. Each work explores the rich sound world created by two harps, and the entire album was produced by Grammy winning recording engineer Adam Abeshouse. The formation of Duo Scorpio is as fascinating as the album: harpists Kathryn Andrews and Kristi Shade were born on exactly the same day, November 5, 1982, making them both Scorpios; they both moved to New York City after undergraduate school, completed their Master's Degrees at The Manhattan School of Music and studied with harp legend Susan Jolles. Scorpios are known for their determination, hard work and love of a challenge, which is definitely exemplified in this stunning debut album. Further information: duoscorpio.com.</image:caption>

<image:title>Album Covers Gallery - The Book of Goddesses</image:title>
<image:caption>Robert Paterson is the winner of the Composer of The Year Award from the Classical Recording Foundation for his new album The Book of Goddesses. This album contains three new works, all featuring harp. The Book of Goddesses (the title work) for flute, harp and percussion is in nine movements and performed by MAYA. Freya's Tears for violin and harp is performed by Clockwise and Embracing the Wind for flute, viola and harp is performed by the American Modern Ensemble. The inspiration for The Book of Goddesses, and the source of the title, is the beautiful, lavishly illustrated book of the same name by Kris Waldherr, a Brooklyn based author, illustrator, designer and cellist. Waldherr s book contains descriptions and images of hundreds of female deities from around the world, some featured more prominently than others. The second work, Freya's Tears, is the sister piece for The Book of Goddesses, and is also inspired by goddesses. All three works are beautifully performed by MAYA, Clockwise and the American Modern Ensemble. Of special note is the beautifully designed packaging which is covered in gold foil and bound like a hardcover book. The booklet contains many of the images and descriptions from the Waldherr's book. This CD makes a perfect gift, whether during the holidays, as a wedding gift or simply for relaxation.</image:caption>

<image:title>Album Covers Gallery - Star Crossing: Music of Robert Paterson</image:title>
<image:caption>This recording contains seven chamber works by American composer Robert Paterson, performed by the New York City based American Modern Ensemble. All of the tracks are for various combinations of flute, clarinet, violin, cello, percussion and piano, with the exception of one of the tracks, Embracing the Wind, for flute, viola and harp, and Elegy for two bassoons and piano. This world premiere recording is the first recording dedicated entirely to Paterson’s music. It was recorded at the Academy of Arts and Letters in New York City and produced by multi-Grammy winning producer Adam Abeshouse. All works feature combinations of flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and percussion, with the exception of Embracing the Wind (flute/alto flute, viola and harp) and Elegy (two bassoons and piano). A few works call for the performers to use police whistles or play exotic percussion instruments. These works are inspired by subjects as diverse as a criminal on the run, space travel, an Olympic athlete, the four classical elements, rock and roll, and the music of J.S. Bach. Based in New York City, the American Modern Ensemble has quickly become a major force in the New Music scene, having programmed the widest possible repertoire by American composers, and especially living composers. Since its inception, AME has presented over thirty concerts, featuring performances of works by over eighty composers, using a world-class ensemble that includes some of the finest instrumentalists and vocalists in North America. <image:title>Album Covers Gallery - Robert Paterson: Six Mallet Marimba</image:title>
<image:caption>Although it is common to see percussionists holding four mallets, using six is still somewhat rare. Award-winning composer and percussionist Robert Paterson has spent his entire career developing this technique and writing pieces that utilize this technique. To date, he has written more works for this technique than anyone else in the world. This is the world's first all six mallet marimba album, and it pays tribute to his roots as a percussionist, and specifically, the marimba. With this collection of works, Paterson sets out to prove that this innovative, groundbreaking technique opens the door for creating new timbres and colors, richer harmonies, and a more varied sound palette on the marimba. All of the works on this album feature the marimba and are performed by Paterson and members of the critically-acclaimed American Modern Ensemble. Works Include Komodo and Piranha for solo marimba, Stillness for oboe and marimba, Clarinatrix for bass clarinet and marimba, the three movement Duo for Flute and Marimba, the six mallet version of Tongue and Groove (there's also a four-mallet version) for alto saxophone and marimba, Braids for violin and marimba, Links & Chains for violin and marimba and Fantasia for tuba and marimba.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - Matters of Time</image:title>
<image:caption>Matters of Time is Exponential Ensemble’s debut recording on the AMR label. Founded in 2011 by clarinetist Pascal Archer, Exponential Ensemble is a mixed chamber music collective that comprises New York City’s top-notch performers and teaching artists. Each season the ensemble presents compelling programs that include both classic masterworks and contemporary masterpieces to a variety of audiences. Exponential Ensemble’s mission includes commissioning and premiering works by living composers that are inspired by math, science and literacy. Since 2013 they have commissioned more than 50 new works by composers such as Amy Brandon, Robert Paterson, and Gilad Cohen. They collaborate regularly with the Fordham Composers Program at Lincoln Center’s Fordham University. Other collaborations include new music residencies with the Composers Collective and the Mostly Modern Festival, during which they premiered a variety of works by emerging composers from across the USA. Additionally, Exponential Ensemble curates interactive educational programs that use music as a way to connect with school curricula. These programs have been delivered to organizations such as Music for Autism, the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and in New York City public schools. Past commissions have been made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts, the Composers Guild of New Jersey, the Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning program, and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - American Modern Ensemble: In Real Life</image:title>

<image:title>Home - Duo Scorpio - Scorpion Tales</image:title>

<image:title>Home - The Book of Goddesses</image:title>

<image:title>Home - Star Crossing: Music of Robert Paterson</image:title>
<image:title>Home - Robert Paterson: Six Mallet Marimba</image:title>
